Bahau - in the 60's large
portion of land were opened up for palm oil cultivation. The massive
efforts drawn in many outsiders. They needed food accommodation and
entertainment. That had resulted in this sleepy town acquiring the name
as "entertainment city of the east" Today, it was back to it normal
mode, except that town's buildings had taken a dramatic turn. To look
more up market.
We have heard so much about that
Rest House in Bahau. Here it is - we get to savor some
of its specialties as well!
The building was located in the
choice part of the original old town. In it - the town's Garden
Park. The Rest house stands on a low hill that overlook
this tiny stream that flows through the Park!

This
Rest House was located in Bahau Town. The town in turn was zoned
as the Jempol district.
Tried looking into my map for a district named Jempol. But in
vain.
Then there was also not any well
known town attaching the same name.
Till
now, that word
sounded alien. It must be an important region of Negri
Sembilan |
There
was this
drive way that serviced the fenced area of the Rest House.
A
separate drive-in branched out - to allow users to reach the
porch.
Must be a rather wet place - Bahau. With the porch I mean. |

Here one more view
of the frontage coming in from the right
entrance |
|
|
Immediately
up the steps, was the small reception counter.
Not
much traffic, but there would be staff to organize reservations and check-in! |
|
The
outstanding feature of this complex was its sea food
restaurant!
Judging from its popularity and the
menu, this is a leading restaurant in town.
We
were lucky to have tasted its servings. We liked its
ambience |
The
operator for the rest house in our conversation told us, the
restuarant would not be in existence for
much longer.
Finally
a view of the detached bangalow that houses the
annexed rooms for visitors |
|
The operator or contractor for this
Rest House had been served with notices. Their term
would not be renewed. The current site will be vacated to
make way for a new building of the privatized motel. Suppose all part of
the long range plan of Negri State. Same applied to the rest house in
Jelebu.
What a shame and what a pity to
loose this vital landmark
To us, who loved Rest houses, we felt that there
were so many other
options!
