Rest Houses in Baling

There was an old Rest House in town that had served the community well. But the town needs something larger and better to be the meeting place and also venue for more formal occasions.

On another low hill over looking the town, this solitary building reigned the high points. The first "round-about" into town? A new road built for the area led visitor from that first "round-about" into town. The road headed up into the hills but first passing by some residential houses.

This single building was no doubt "the" meeting place.

The operator who ran the outfit was very friendly. He talked to us, despite of having to attend to the lunching crowd. There was the reception counter and menu for food inside the dinning hall.

Not much photographs were taken as the place was crowded, we will have more inserted in our next updates. But first, lets look at the original Rest House in Baling too. It was till there in operation.

Old Rest House In Baling

Baling, the name that most people would associate with the communist leader Chin Peng. Surely such a remote township needed a Rest House

The location, size of building and group together with the police station brought back memories of the mood and settings for those days

For this little building. This 4 rooms building was very well equipped for its size.

While no guest was seen that day, the garden and the whole surrounding showed that the place was well patronized.

The place served as a reminder of the past. With so much modernisation in progress, the Rest House was then an evidence of how things were like long ago!
