Merapoh Rest house

 Heart of Peninsula

Merapoh, this is an area of scattered houses at the border of Pahang and Kelantan. In fact you could hardly find enough [ 4-5] houses clustered to signifies a settlement. Being at the remotest part of the country, the Government's machinery were seen in action and hence the justification for the availability of a Rest House.
It was a large independent house with a huge compound. As time passed, they confirmed that the place did served its purposes. The old building was replaced and left abandoned, as the picture below shows.

The gate ajar, the empty lawn then was used as a storage yard by other government departments. The type of building is quite clearly shown in this shot.

The new building? It is simple and made of concrete and tiled roof. Here is one wing where the rooms were.

Here it is! A full view of the whole complex. Land was plentiful and the compound of this new complex was equally large. At the time of our visit, the place was not utilized. We did not make a second visit to check as to whether would sometimes be present to attend to walk -in customers.

It was good to see one Rest House still in good shape. See more of Merapoh.
