The southern part of Peninsula Malaysia was not very much populated. In the early days, without the Expressway, travelers moving north or southwards had to choose between using inland or coastal road. The inland route was shorter. Hence Tampin got a fair share of the long haul traffic. These days, that decision no longer exist. Every one used the Expressway. The old Highway 1, was left to those who had the need to reach small towns and those near to Segamat. The Rest house Approaching from the north and on entering the town, this Rest House was prominently situated on the right just beside the Main Road.

There were 2 entrances, along the common drive ways. The loop road that starts as an entrance from the trunk road. |
Then after the Rest House compound, there was this second turn off. An alternative road served as a slip road for the Rest House. It also the way for the Governmental offices and Park. The building and the compound was kept reasonably tidy. At the time of our visit, the place was deserted. A passer-by informed us the contactor or operator of the Rest House had abandoned the place before the term expired.
