Tapah

Gateway to Cameron

I never knew about the importance of Tapah being a town. Not until, I was on the trail of Rest house searches. There was the virtually unknown Tapah Road township. In the early days, visitors to Cameron Highlands could only get there by Rail. They would stop in Tapah to plan their next leg of ardous journey weaving by the mountain slopes. Imagine, how important this stop in Tapah was.

Today, it is till the practice for many.

For those travelers driving through forested road in Lower Perak and wishing to make a halt. Looking for place nice, then this is the most appropriate.

The Rest House. Right ambience and convenient!

The building was situated on top of a small hill over looking the old part of town.

It was just beside the road plying between Tapah and Tapah Road!

The architecture suggested that this building was rebuilt using present day's taste. Then re-equipped with up to date facilities

The rooms were situated in an annexed building alongside the main buildings. There 2 of such annexes.

In the main building, the reception was inside the restaurant area that serve meals throughout the day. The Rest House keeper said that this venue was popular among visitors using the train services.

Among them were those weekenders doing a day trip to the Cameron Highlands.

Looking across the service road to Tapah Road is the Sungei Batang Padang - mighty yellow in colour, washing down the silts from the highlands.

Those shadowy peaks at the background were Cameron Highlands.

As you can see from the pictures, this is a very neat place.

Yes! they had tasty and proper meals too. Do drop by and enjoy the ambience, a good break for the weekends from Kuala Lumpur or Ipoh.
