The "Gap"

Mountain Pass

The Stopover point

for the hill journey

For travelers driving across the mountain road, the Rest House at The Gap was an essential and welcome stop.

This was a fantastic Rest house with cool surrounding and rustic atmosphere.

On this weekend, a group of direct sales marketers had taken up all the space in this narrow lay-by cum car park.

The terrain here was that of a narrow mountain Pass. The Rest House perched on the eastern slope standing guard before the traffic that rolled by this winding trail.

The colonial style bungalow added on to the grandeur of the rest house perching on a small hillock. Then the scene of a higher peak as backdrop. The design and architecture definitely brought back re-collections of buildings from far away land.

The unmistakable external feature of a chimney to serve the fire place.

The structure gave passers by that this forested stretch really that cold in the night. Maybe, that once upon a time

Then gone were the days, the clearing of the forest had eliminated all these pre-requisites.

In this same location, there were another hillocks that accommodated individually these 2 buildings.

Both abandoned and left to rot. Again, another piece of history stayed buried with them.

The flattened land area on which the bungalow was built, still have adequate land around the building for a narrow garden.

It was marvelous how this tiny plot of land was assigned to keep a solitary building on this vantage point.

Here are some views of the setting and moods that they generate.

An elevated garden overlooked the mountain road that pass in front and below the rest house.

Hoping to get views of rare mountain birds ?Yes, it is not a far fetch idea.

Typical of a tropical forest. Most trees have green leaves. The season of new leaves varies. So at any one time,  it not unusual to see a sea of green but with a varying degree of green hue. That certainly looked amazing and pleased the eyes. The scene of a beautiful wall of green in every direction the head turned to!

Now that is serenity.

The location of the Rest House, its styling and the overall ambience was and will be perfect excuses for us to take early morning drive on weekends to get there for breakfast.
